Salisbury PD Publishes ‘Police Call Log’ - Pocomoke PD has no Web Site
We are starting to compare some of the operational aspects of the Pocomoke City government compared to non-corrupt municipalities in the area and are always amazed at what we find.
The Pocomoke Tattler has been asking the Pocomoke Police Dept for the “call log” or “incident log” since last July and they have acted like they don’t know what we are talking about. Both my wife & I have said, “you know the log reporting all the calls and dispatches” and we still have not gotten any real response.
They (PCPD) have sent sporadic reports of ‘incidents and arrests’ which have been sanitized (and probably blessed by Boss Hogg) to shoplifting, domestic disputes and two arrests for pot since last July. Everybody knows that Pocomoke is host to one of the most notorious open air drug markets on the Eastern Shore which was rumored to have been supplied by the PCPD during the previous TWO chiefs administrations. (Chief Ervins illegal employment contract expires on the 20th of this month) The source of the drugs and politically protected drug dealers is another issue altogether but an ongoing problem that exists in Pocomoke City.
Today I was given a link to Salisbury Maryland Police Dept website and they have something called:
DAILY CALLS FOR SERVICE which as the title states is updated daily: Click here
Truth in advertising they have everything from traffic stops, shootings, cat in a tree the whole nine-yards.
THE BIG THING IS THEY ACTUALLY HAVE A WEBSITE LIKE THE REST OF THE MODERN WORLD.
FACTOID: King Boss Hogg Russ Blake of Pocomoke City did not “allow” the city of Pocomoke to operate a website until late 2006. The domain name had been registered and secured in 2002 but he “sat on the website” for 4-years. One of the good things Mayor Mike McDermott did before Boss Hogg owned him was to “force” Russ Blake to “allow” the City of Pocomoke to get out of the stone age and have a municipal website. It is still a .com instead of a .gov but at least its a website. (they still wait until 3:00 PM on the day of a 7:30 PM city council meeting to post the agenda)
FACTOID: The Pocomoke City Police Dept is under the control of the City Manager, with the Chief reporting ONLY to King “Boss Hogg” Russ Blake and we all know Boss Hogg reports to no one and never has for 32-years (currently the longest sitting City Manager in the USA) and never will until he is removed from office.
OK we understand that the PCPD has not figured out a way to get a grant for a website, then not produce it so they have not applied for one yet. They are great at getting grants for things like “pedestrian safety” in a City that has no cross walks and no (complete) sidewalks leading to any of the schools.
We think that 11-months of asking for a ‘Police log’ or Daily Call Log is long enough as the last “sanitized police report” that we got was on May 8th 2008 and there has been no consistency with what we have received prior to that.
Are there any other citizens who would like to know what the actual calls are? There were a few things missing from that May 8th report.
Why not?
The sanitized and King Boss Hogg approved ”reports” we were provided had petty crimes like driving on a suspended license, petty theft and a woman with less than a joint (she probably refused to put out) of marijuana.
Does anyone think there is something wrong with this picture?

Micromanagement by the City Manager is the reason there are no thriving businesses downtown to answer a question from yesterdays post.
Isn’t it time for some “open government” instead of the lies and BS the people are fed from City Hall?
We have been waiting since last July for a police log of calls is that too much to ask of this openly corrupt city government?

I wonder if the call for a drunk at the middle school would be in? Oh that’s right, even though he was drunk and carrying an alcoholic beverage ON SCHOOL GROUNDS DURING SCHOOL HOURS IN FRONT OF SCHOOL CHILDREN, he wasn’t arrested.

I want to clarify one thing!
That there are some really good people who work for the Pocomoke Police Department and that this post is not in any intended to discredit their commitment or integrity to their job.
As I stated publicly over a year ago at a Mayor and Council Meeting when one of the Officers wives came to the meeting in tears because he had been left hanging out in the cold when he called for back up during an incident and she had felt that he didn’t get the back up he needed because of retribution because he had turned in a report of misconduct by a fellow officer. I said then and I will say it again. “The body follows the head, and when the head is out of order so is the body. It is a management plain and simple, and until the head is replaced nothing will change”. I pointed my finger at Chief Ervin and at Russ Blake when saying this.
These officers are following orders, the office staff is following orders.
I believe that there are a lot of good people in this town, who have been following the orders of one bad manager for far too long.
Angel, thank you for your reports, I know that they cause extra added work on your shoulders, but people truly are interested in what happens here in our city.
