Pocomoke City Police Report May 1st through May 8th, 2008 (Excluding Minor Traffic Offenses)

 

The Pocomoke City Police Department has provided the following information about activities in the community.
<>PCPD Sign05/01/08 Pocomoke City Police conducted a Warrant service at 107 Fourth St on Gary Watts, 50 of Pocomoke City for Failure to comply with a Peace order, Harassment, and Arson Threat. Watts was placed under arrest and transported to PPD for processing. He was held at the Worcester County Jail on $25,000 bond.

On 05/01/08 Pocomoke City Police conducted a Warrant service at 300 2nd Street Pocomoke City on Darryl Talbert, 44 of Pocomoke for Assault 2nd degree. He was taken before the Commissioner and released on his personal recognizance.

On 05/02/08 at approximately 1055 an Officer was at the Police Department walking to his patrol vehicle when he observed a black Ford Taurus traveling East on Second St, the driver wearing no seat belt, both straps were parallel the “B” post and the silver latch plate located at the head. The Officer initiated a stop at Winter Quarters Dr. and Linden Ave where he then observed the driver’s side brake light to be out. The Officer advised the reason for the stop and requested drivers license and registration and was advised by the driver that he was not supposed to be driving. The Officer identified the driver as Marvi Hollingsworth via name and DOB due to not having a driver’s license with him. The Officer ran a license check with this information which revealed a suspended and revoked license through MD. The Officer advised the driver of the same and issued the appropriate citations. The vehicle was driven away by a licensed driver. Police cleared without further incident.

On 05/03/08 approximately 2340hrs, Police observed Robert Johnson walking up Laurel Street from 4th street. Officers were aware he was wanted for an FTA through Worcester County. Robert Johnson was detained at the 200 block of Laurel Street while communications confirmed the Warrant. Worcester County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the Warrant. Police transported Robert Johnson back to the Pocomoke Police Department for processing then to the Commissioner. No local charges. Johnson was held at the Worcester County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.

On 05/03/08 approximately 1635 hrs Police responded to Wal-Mart for a Trespasser. Upon arrival met with Staff from Wal-Mart. She advised that a Tommy Allen Bryant, had signed and understood their trespass order, and gave this Officer a copy of the restriction dated 08-06-07. Bryant advised she was only waiting for the bus and came in the doorway area for a soda. Officers transported Bryant to the Police Department and processed her for one charge of trespassing and released her on a Criminal Citation she was transported back to her residence.

On 05/03/08 at approximately 9:22 pm Officers responded to 718 Sixth St Pocomoke City in ref to Warrant service for Donnease Sturgis. Sturgis was located and advised of the arrest warrant. The warrant was confirmed. Sturgis was placed under arrest and transported to PCPD for processing. Sturgis was held on $308 bond.

On 05/04/08 Police stopped a vehicle for speeding. Upon approach of the vehicle identified was Charlene Nemeth, 46 of Salisbury. The Officer requested license and registration which Nemeth could not produce. Nemeth was issued the following citations: Driving on expired license, Displaying expired registration plates, driving without current tags, Failure to display license on demand, and knowingly drive an uninsured vehicle. She was also issued a warning for speed. She was released on all citations pending trial.

At approximately 12:51 hrs on 05/05/08 Cpl. Craven responded to 806 Second Street, in reference to a possible disturbance. Upon arrival Police made contact with the complainant, who advised that she was at this location with the suspect, and they began to argue. The victim advised that she was scared and had the police department contacted. The victim advised that she was not assaulted at this time by the suspect and advised that he had left the area in an orange shirt and plaid pants. Police had responded to this location on 04/23/08 for an assault involving the victim, where Officers obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect for assaulting Darielle Copes. Officers then checked the area for the suspect, and then checked the 700 block of Ninth Street for the suspect. Officers observed this individual in this area and approached him. Police then advised the suspect that there was a Warrant for his arrest. Officers then reached for the suspects left wrist and he pulled away. Police again reached for his left wrist to place handcuffs on him, but he pulled away and fled from the area towards 723 Ninth Street. Police attempted to catch up to him, the suspect entered 723 Ninth Street. James Ballard, 27 of Salisbury MD was subsequently apprehended and charged with Escape. Ballard was transported to the police department to be processed on this assault/burglary warrant and resisting arrest. Ballard was held at the Worcester County Detention Center on $5,000 bond for Escape and $100,000 bond for the Assault 1st degree.
