People of Pocomoke Are Digging out After the Blizzard of 2010

The Blizzard of 2010 as it’s already starting to be called has passed through Pocomoke City and people are starting to dig out already. The city was blanketed with 12″ to 20″ depending on whom you talk to and how the wind stacked the snow on their property.

Snow Shovels work well

Now its time to dig out and clear the sidewalks in front of your homes.

The main streets are pretty clear

Market Street being a State Highway has been pretty clear with both the SHA and city snow plows working overtime. If most of the side streets look like 6th Street then its going to be a while before the city gets to you.

It’s good to have a friend with a tractor

A shovel works well but a tractor is better. According to my wife the city code requires property owners to clear their sidewalks within 48 horus of a snowstorm.

The City of Pocomoke is one of the few communities on the shore NOT to post a special message to citizens on it’s website. Without calling it’s not clear what the official position of the city government will be on this storm.

The storm was rough

The storm was pretty intense for a while there with whiteout conditions and literally tons of snow being dropped. If you are able to get out and shovel by all means but please use your heads and be safe.

A shovel is good but a man with a tractor is better

It’s Pocomoke… Just say NO to Mike McDermott for State Delegate…
