When Congress returns after the 4th of July Holiday they have a lot on their plate and item No.1 needs to be the repeal or amending of the Patriot Act.

Under this act we have lost more personal freedoms than anyother in recent history with tenacles of government intrusion into the private lives of individuals like no other.

Below is a sample letter that you can forward to your representatives in Congress and tell them that it is time to get on the ball.

The time has come to review and reform our domestic surveillance laws. As you know, in December, three provisions of the Patriot Act are set to expire. I write to urge you to support investigations of and amendments to the Patriot Act and similar laws before the end of the year.

I am a staunch supporter of keeping our country safe. I am also a staunch supporter of our Constitution. It is troubling that Congress has continued to pass legislation enabling our government to create a spying superstructure that carries out mass surveillance on innocent and law abiding citizens’ communications without any kind of court authorization.

I ask that this year’s reauthorization process be used to rein in these vastly expanded authorities:

1.    Limit electronic surveillance laws such as the Patriot Act and the FISA Amendments Act so that they are targeted at suspected terrorists and spies — not innocent Americans.

2.    Amend the ideological exclusion provisions of immigration law expanded by the Patriot Act so that foreign scholars, experts and advocates are not denied visas solely on the basis of their beliefs.

3.    Prevent federal agents from spying on Americans or infiltrating groups based solely on their exercise of First Amendment rights, such as religious practices or protest activities.

Our government’s checks and balances require judicial oversight in order to protect innocent people from privacy invasion by the government. It is time for Congress to reassert itself as a co-equal branch of government.

I know you can find a way to protect the citizens of the United States not only from the threats of terrorism, but also from the more subtle and insidious threat of unwarranted and unconstitutional surveillance of innocent people. Please take a leadership role in restoring America’s commitment to the Constitution.

Are the citizens of Pocomoke City sick and tired of living under the Boss Hogg form of Government and being the laughing stock of the National Civic League?

The patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ethiopia says he will announce to the world Friday the unveiling of the Ark of the Covenant, perhaps the world’s most prized archaeological and spiritual artifact, which he says has been hidden away in a church in his country for millennia, according to the Italian news agency Adnkronos.

Abuna Pauolos, in Italy for a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI this week, told the news agency, “Soon the world will be able to admire the Ark of the Covenant described in the Bible as the container of the tablets of the law that God delivered to Moses and the center of searches and studies for centuries.”

The announcement is expected to be made at 2 p.m. Italian time from the Hotel Aldrovandi in Rome. Pauolos will reportedly be accompanied by Prince Aklile Berhan Makonnen Haile Sellassie and Duke Amedeo D’Acosta.

“The Ark of the Covenant is in Ethiopia for many centuries,” said Pauolos. “As a patriarch I have seen it with my own eyes and only few highly qualified persons could do the same, until now.”

According to Pauolos, the actual Ark has been kept in one church, but to defend the treasure, a copy was placed in every single church in Ethiopia.

He said a museum is being built in Axum, Ethiopia, where the Ark will be displayed. A foundation of D’Acosta will fund the project.

The Ark of the Covenant is the sacred container of the Ten Commandments as well as Aaron’s rod and a sample of manna, the mysterious food that kept the Israelites alive while wandering in the wilderness during their journey to the promised land.

The Bible says the Ark was built to the specifications of God as He spoke to Moses. It was carried in advance of the people and their army by priests. It was also carried in a seven-day procession around the walled city of Jericho.

The idea that the Ark is presently in Ethiopia is a well-documented, albeit disputed, tradition dating back to at least 642 B.C. The tradition says it was moved to Elephantine Island in Egypt, then to Tana Kirkos Island in Ethiopia and finally to its present site at St. Mary’s of Zion Church in Axum.

Ethiopians believe it is destined to be delivered to the Messiah when He reigns on Mount Zion – the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

Jeremiah 3:16 points to a time when the Ark will vanish not only physically, but from the minds of the people: “And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.”

The Book of Revelation says the Ark is in the temple of God in heaven (Rev. 11:19). Muslim scholars say it will be found near the end of times by the Mahdi – a messianic figure in Islam.

Mayor Mike McDermotts father has been posting comments on the Pocomoke Tattler for some time under the username of “Pinetar” and has been asking questions that have gotten progressively harder because they are not answered.

The pressure is getting to Mikey “my way or the highway” McDermott.

Personally knowing this individual, I can see in his speech and action that things are not going as well as expected (like not getting All American City) and that has infuriated him.

He has touted himself as a Christian yet why would a devout Christian rant like Mikey does or call people names or tell someone to leave if they don’t like it. This is truly a man who has some serious problems identifying who he is.

And, if Mikey reads this I have to say, “Hey Mikey, are you on the take? Don’t get too caught up in all this political stuff because I (have?) info that can make you look stupid.”

It’s pretty harsh when your father speaks out and asks his son the Mayor “are you on the take?” he has known Mikey longer than anyone in Pocomoke City, that is a fact.

Now the citizens of Pocomoke City are catching on to the Mayor’s tactics.

You see, Mikey likes to USE things to further his own agenda. He wants to use Pocomoke City as a stepping stone to a higher political office. He used people to get elected to the position of mayor.

Saturday night the real super nasty out right lies started flying into the blogosphere about the Burkes after Boss Hogg and his contingent of crooked political losers returned from Florida without placing in the All American City Competition.

There are a number of posts that are rude, crude and socially unacceptable made by Boss Hoggs minions almost daily, that come from bogus e-mail addresses.  We never let them through but a few unscrupulous blog sites do let Boss Hogg talk smack behind fake identities. These started hitting again Saturday night after the Pocomoke delegation from the All America City competition returned to “This sick little City” of Pocomoke.

Their answers have not yet been disclosed but to quote Mayor McDumbass from a recent rant “You made this sick little city what it is…”meaning it’s all the Burkes’ fault that people know Pocomoke City is openly corrupt.

The Mayor was speaking in his role of Mayor (Public Official) to Stephanie Burke about her role of desiring change as a bonafide City Council Candidate (Public Policy) on the front steps or porch of Pocomoke City Hall (a very public place) explaining why he was accepting the support of the crooked P-City election machine.

The Mayor went on to say, “…wait until you hear how the people have spoken at the ballot…” using past tense about the upcoming city council ELECTION RESULTS A FULL TEN DAYS PRIOR TO THE ELECTION.

It’s no wonder Boss Hogg had me arrested and seized my families electronics with a bogus “wiretapping charge” in an attempt to gain control of the recording that had been sent to the Attorney General and State’s Attorney with a complaint of criminal wrongdoing.  Boss Hogg sent his private police force to see how much more evidence the Burkes really had against him, crooked government contracts, bogus LLC’s, back room un-advertised real estate transactions and the infamous adventures with goat girl.

Boss Hogg does not want the judge or the public to hear what is on that recording claiming his puppet Mayor was a “Victim of Felonious Illegal Wiretapping” when he made statements incriminating Pocomoke’s City Manager in criminal acts.

This message is to all the members of Pocomoke City’s openly corrupt Boss Hogg form of government who have run “this sick little city” into the ground with their open air drug market, contracting kick-back scams and back room real estate deals.

Time to let a Judge & Jury from outside Pocomoke City decide who the real criminals in this matter are.

Time for Boss Hogg and leave town after 33-years of un-elected dictatorship that has run Pocomoke City into the ground.

Time for the open corruption and election theft at Pocomoke City Hall to end.
